Dodgers, Yankees Meet in World Series for 1st Time Since 1981
The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees are facing off in Major League Baseball’s World Series once again.
No two teams have seen each other more in the league’s postseason – the matchup has happened 11 times in the championship, with the Yankees winning eight of those series. The rivalry dates back to the 1940s when both teams were in New York, but the teams haven’t met in a World Series since 1981.
The Dodgers have the home-field advantage thanks to a higher regular season winning percentage, but tickets to the Yankees home games might be in more demand based on ticket prices.
The average ticket price to each game is:
- Game 1 (Dodger Stadium): $1,133
- Game 2 (Dodger Stadium): $1,258
- Game 3 (Yankee Stadium): $1,547
- Game 4 (Yankee Stadium): $1,497
- Game 5 (Yankee Stadium): $1,583
- Game 6 (Dodger Stadium): $1,363
- Game 7 (Dodger Stadium): $1,450
The Yankees haven’t competed in the World Series since winning it in 2009, while the Dodgers won the trophy in 2020.
Last year, the Texas Rangers were crowned champion after winning 4-1 against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The games will be aired on Fox. In 2018, the broadcaster extended its deal through the 2028 season for exclusive rights to the World Series and All-Star Game. Game 1 will air at 8:08 p.m. ET on Friday, October 25.
