Men’s Conference Basketball Tournaments Begin Next Week
March is officially here, which means so is nonstop basketball.
Next week, the NCAA will hold the men’s conference tournament championships across the U.S. In the spotlight are the Power 4 conferences, including the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12 and SEC. The group was previously considered the Power 5 until the Pac-12 was essentially dismantled in 2024.
Out of the four conferences, the SEC seems to be drawing the most demand on average for the last four sessions based on each session’s average ticket price. This rings true for the quarterfinals, semifinals and final; the average ticket prices are $351, $380 and $387, respectively.
There is one non-Power 4 conference that can’t be excluded when comparing prices: the Big East. When comparing it to the Power conferences, the Big East holds the second highest average ticket prices for the quarterfinals, semifinals and final, and the highest for the fourth-to-last session ($321) – the SEC and Big 12 have eight sessions, whereas the other conferences only have seven.
The ACC has the lowest average ticket price to three of the last four sessions; the final is the only session where another conference’s average ticket price (the Big Ten) is lower.
