NBA All-Star Game Returns With New Format
NBA All-Star Weekend is back. This time, the main event – the NBA All-Star Game – will look a big different.
The 74th edition of the NBA All-Star Game will air at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday on TNT, but only after a mini play-in tournament. There will be four teams competing to make it to the All-Star Game, featuring rosters chosen by TNT’s “Inside the NBA” crew.
- Kenny Smith’s “Young Stars” (Anthony Edwards, Jalen Brunson, Jaren Jackson Jr., Jalen Williams, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, Cade Cunningham and Tyler Herro)
- Charles Barkley’s “Global Stars” (Nikola Jokic, Shai Gilgeious-Alexander, Victor Wembanyama, Pascal Siakam, Alperen Şengün, Karl-Anthony Towns, Donovan Mitchell and Trae Young)
- Shaquille O’Neal’s “OGs” (LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Jayson Tatum, Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard, James Harden, Jaylen Brown and Kyrie Irving)
- Candace Parker will lead whichever team win’s Friday’s Rising Stars Challenge
The winning team will receive $125,000 each, with second place winning $50,000 and third and fourth place getting $25,000 each.
While the All Stars will walk away with prizes, ticket prices show high demand to attend – but not as high as last year.
Four days out from the All-Star Game last year, the average ticket price was $1,810, marking a 76% increase from the same time in 2023. This year, that number sat at just $1,411.
As of Friday afternoon, the average ticket price to the game sat at $1,906, which is significantly less than the $3,313 average price it was at the same time last year.
While many people are excited for the change in format, the ticket prices don’t necessarily show it.
