Opening Day Ticket Trends: Royals and Reds
Grab some peanuts and Cracker Jacks – Major League Baseball is back! Over the next two weeks, 30 MLB teams are stepping up to the plate for their home openers with fresh lineups and renewed optimism.
As fans flood ball parks nationwide, we’re taking a closer look at Opening Day for two teams in their respective league’s Central Division – the Kansas City Royals (American League) and Cincinnati Reds (National League) – happening Thursday, March 27.
The data reveals the unique dynamics of each team’s fan base and market. Here’s a look at the Average Ticket Prices (ATPs) and Get In prices for both events.
Kansas City Royals Home Opener
The Kansas City Royals open at Kauffman Stadium against the Cleveland Guardians. As of March 26 – one day before the game – ATP is $140.42, a 10% increase from a week prior ($127.72). Similarly, Get In price has increased 8% over the same period, jumping from $66 to $71. The modest climb in prices over the past seven days suggests a steady demand for the Royals Home Opener.
Cincinnati Reds Home Opener
The Cincinnati Reds home opener at Great American Ball Park will be played against the San Francisco Giants. Ticket prices continue to increase in the final stretch. On the day before the game, ATP was $227.86, a 16% increase from seven days prior. Get In price has also increased 27%, going from $110 to $140 in just one week. This significant jump suggests a last-minute rush for tickets and a larger metro population.
