Copa América Final Tickets Highly Sought After
The 2024 CONMEBOL Copa América final is set.
On Wednesday, Colombia won its match against Uruguay to meet Argentina in the championship game, scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 14 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Meanwhile, Uruguay will compete for third place against Canada at the same time the day before at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In its 108-year history, it’s just the second time the tournament is being held outside of South America.
Following Uruguay’s loss on Wednesday, the team’s players were involved in fights in the stands with Colombia fans. Uruguay’s José María Giménez reportedly said Colombian fans were aggressive toward Uruguay family members, including some with young children, and they needed to step in.
However, it doesn’t seem that the actions on Wednesday will affect Uruguay’s upcoming game.
“CONMEBOL strongly condemns any act of violence that affects football,” South America’s soccer governing body said in a statement. “Our work is based on the conviction that soccer connects and unites us through its positive values… We invite everyone in the remaining days to pour all their passion into cheering on their national teams and having an unforgettable party.”
According to ticket prices, it’s no surprise that the final is in more demand than the semifinal games.
The average ticket price (ATP) to the semifinals was $418, while the ATP for the final is already $1,498. Fans can see the third-place game for just a fraction of the price at $209, on average.
Both teams in the final have a lot on the line.
Lionel Messi and his Argentina team will look to defend their title and set the record for the most titles – they’re currently tied with Uruguay at 15. Colombia will look to win its second ever\ championship after entering the tournament with a 22-game win streak.
