Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever Drop First WNBA Playoff Game
The WNBA Playoffs are underway, and after the Indiana Fever’s loss on Sunday, Caitlin Clark only has one more shot to make it to the postseason’s second round.
For the WNBA, there are three rounds in the postseason. The first features four best-of-three series, while the semi-finals and Finals are best-of-five. The higher seed in the first round host Games 1 and 2 and the higher seed in the final two rounds host Games 1, 2 and 5.
Clark and the Indiana Fever fell to the Connecticut Sun in the first game of round one on Sunday and will meet again on Wednesday for a shot at Game 3. The teams that wins will advance to the semi-finals.
The Fever hasn’t made the playoffs since 2016, but the interest in seeing Clark’s first postseason is undeniable. According to TFL, the average ticket price to the Fever and Sun’s series is three times higher than any other first round series in the playoffs at $225.
The Minnesota Lynx, the second seed, has the series with the second-highest average ticket price against the Phoenix Mercury at $73, while the New York Liberty, the No. 1 seed in the postseason, had the third-highest average ticket price against the Atlanta Dream at $70. The Liberty will look to win its first championship in franchise history despite being one of the league’s original teams.
The average price to see WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces take on the the Seattle Storm in the first round is $40.
Game 2 of the first round begins Monday. Round 2 will begin Sunday, Sept. 29, and the Finals will start Thursday, Oct. 10.
