What You Need to Know About the 2023 World Series
The winner of the 2023 World Series could be decided tonight between the Texas Rangers and the Arizona Diamondbacks, marking the fifth year the championship series has been hosted in Texas.
The Rangers, who beat out last year’s winners in the American League Championship series, are leading the World Series 3-1. The Diamondbacks won the National League Championship series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Whichever team wins will extend the more than two decades of no repeat World Series winners.
Of the six MLB franchises that have never won the World Series, the Rangers are the oldest – the team dates back to 1961 as the Washington Senators, who then moved to Arlington before the 1972 season, becoming the Rangers. The Diamondbacks have one championship (2001) under their belt.
Despite there being so much on the line, this year’s World Series has reached record-low viewership in Game 1, 2 and 3 and is reportedly on track to be the lowest-rated World Series ever. But that doesn’t mean tickets are cheap.
TFL pulled the average ticket price to Games 1-4:
- $915
- $1,031
- $930
- $749
Among the first four games, the overall average ticket price was $931.
And while the Rangers could end the season tonight, the Diamondbacks will have to win the next three games to clinch the title.
